Sonwabiso Ngcowa
Sonwabiso Ngcowa is a South African author whose work reflects the country’s rich cultural diversity. Writing in both fiction and non-fiction, his stories explore themes of identity, belonging, and resilience, and have been published in multiple languages, including English, isiXhosa, isiZulu, and German. His notable works include the short story Beads Under My Shirt and the novel In Search of Happiness, which has been translated into German. Beyond writing, Sonwabiso is pursuing a PhD in Palliative Care and Global Health at the University of Cape Town, where he also works as a Senior Research Assistant. He holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology with distinction and has lectured at UCT. His achievements include being named one of Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans.
