Wandile Mathe

I come from a lineage of strong matriarchs who have anchored me through life, and their stories breathe through my writing. I write to share testimonies that life, while sometimes tragic, is also filled with greatness. I believe that with a little bit of hope, love, care, and belief, there’s nowhere you can’t go. My inspiration comes from the extraordinary strengths and lives of everyday people in ordinary and sometimes underrated areas of life, such as the lady selling sweets by the traffic light, the boy playing soccer in the dust, and even the seemingly successful man with an empty heart.

Currently, I am a student at the University of Johannesburg, studying Social Work, which aligns perfectly with my writing goals of uplifting people. On a lighter note, one fun fact about me is that I am very emotional. I also dabble in radio presenting, and I’m known as the annoying classmate who always asks for homework or reminds the teacher to check it, all just to play around with my peers’ nerves and get a good laugh!
