Nompilo is a children’s story about a young girl who, with the support of trusted adults and the justice system, finds her way toward courage and healing after experiencing abuse.
Stories offer a gentle way into difficult conversations – touching hearts rather than just delivering facts. Nompilo is designed to be read alongside children, opening space for questions, feelings, and honest talk at home, in schools, and in communities.
Adapted from the award-winning Judicial Theatre production by ASSITEJ South Africa, the book helps children understand that abuse is never their fault, and how to get help afterwards. Between September 2025 and March 2026, the play reached more than 15,000 children across five South African provinces.
