Bontle Senne

Bontle Senne is a prolific writer and a passionate advocate for indigenous language children’s literature. With a deep commitment to promoting literacy, she has served as a managing director and continues as a board member at the Puku Children’s Literature Foundation. Additionally, she contributes her expertise as a trustee of the READ Educational Trust.

As a part owner of Modjaji Books, a feminist trade publishing house, Bontle Senne actively works to amplify marginalized voices and narratives within the literary landscape. Her dedication to diversity and inclusivity in literature is reflected in her advocacy and creative endeavors.

Bontle’s talent and dedication have garnered recognition, including being shortlisted for the Golden Baobab Prize in 2014. She is also a sought-after speaker, having presented at prestigious events such as the Frankfurt Book Fair, Paris Book Fair, South African Book Fair, and various international literary festivals. Through her writing, advocacy, and public speaking engagements, Bontle Senne continues to make significant contributions to the world of children’s literature and literacy promotion.
